  Nagano Zenkoji temple    

Nagano city was held winter Olympic games 1998. It was a turning point for changing accessible. Many ramp in Zenkoji. Wheelchair friendly temple. Good accessible information but only Japanese. Nice visitor road (1900m) between JR Nagano station and Zenkoji, but hilly. Route buses are non step. So use bus or taxi on the one way is good choice.

  Matsumoto castle     

One of the 12 castles among war age which still exists originally in Japan. We can feel and touch old age. Therefore no wheelchair accessible inside castle. Many stairs. Impossible to repair it. But the garden is wheelchair friendly. Everybody can reach the castle.

  Chihiro Art Museum     

world 1st picture book museum. Iwasaki Chihiro is one of most famous author of picture books in Japan. This museum is located in the field with great nature view. Nice architecture and lovely garden. Worth to visit for a while.

  Daio wasabi firm     

One of the popular tourist place in Nagano area. Big big wasabi firm. It is wheelchair friendly. Taste and try real natural fresh wasabi. Free of charge to enter the firm.

  Snow Monkey     

Jigokudani Yaen Koen snow monkey in hot spring. It is popular for foreign tourist better than Japanese. It is located deep mountain near Yudanaka Onsen area, 30min drive from Nagano city and more 30min walk on hill and stairs from car park. Or 90min by local train and bus. There are many stairs and unpaved road. Much snow in winter. It is not wheelchair accessible.   Kamikochi     
Most favorite mountain resort in Japan. Cars are prohibited in the area because they keep nature. Bus and taxi are allowed to enter. People with mobility impairment can get the entering permission in Matsumoto police station. Non-step easy walking road is available, it is wheelchair accessible. Many hiker and climber come. They go deep high mountain.

  Tsugaike Nature Park   
Wheelchair accessible wooden trail. 500 meter nature walk in high mountain. Elevators in gondola and ropeway. Kind staff always help us. Hilly road to nature park. Wheelchair users need a big push but it is possible to reach nature park. Enjoy mountain flowers and fresh air.

  Yachiho Highlands  
Located in Mt. Yatsugatake. The nature park is on famous scenic " fairy tail road ". The road close in winter, mid Nov - mid Apr. Visit in summer to escape hot weather, enjoy spring fresh green in May and autumn leaves in October. Here is nature forest, but wheelchair user can enjoy 200 meter accessible wooden trail. Feel deep nature forest.

  Kurobe Dam    

Now it is possible to visit Kurobe dam on wheelchair from Nagano side. The lower floor bus run to Kurobe dam. The bus station and dam building have a elevator. However most of place around the dam are nature. 2 cable cars have stairs on the stations.

  Miharashi farm   

Famous for strawberry picking. Full wheelchair accessible. Many activities are there, Buffet restaurant, farmers market, cooking experience, hot spring, etc... Located in Ina city, 30 min south by car from Matsumoto city.

  Tsumago     

One of the most famous Edo period hotel town. Tsumago still remains historical architecture and atmosphere. Local people keep it original one. There are some stairs and hilly road. Park at central parking and access from north is the best way for wheelchair users. Many old houses have steps on door, but everybody enjoy walking on old days street.

Many ski resorts in Japan. Nagano is one of them. Almost all ski resort accept adaptive skiers. There are a few organization for disabled people to ski. Hokkaido is also famous for foreign skiers.
